Summary

  • Brand identity
  • Packaging design
  • Art direction
  • E-commerce design
  • Content system

Seasoned is a concept food brand built around seasonal produce, thoughtful sourcing and accessible food education. The identity, packaging system and storefront are designed as one connected experience: a typographic wordmark, a palette that changes with the calendar, and commerce components that explain what is in season and why it is worth buying now.

Business context

Many people want to cook with fresher ingredients but find it hard to know what is actually in season, where it comes from and what to do with it. Supermarket presentation flattens the calendar: everything is available, nothing feels timely.

Seasoned is a fictional direct-to-consumer brand with a simple proposition: curated seasonal produce boxes, seasonal recipes, digital produce guides, local sourcing information and giftable seasonal collections. No sustainability claims are made that the concept cannot back up.

The challenge

Create a recognisable, commercially plausible identity that makes everyday ingredients feel desirable without making the brand feel exclusive or expensive.

The system has to flex across physical packaging, printed inserts, product labels, a mobile-first storefront and social templates, while staying coherent as the seasonal palette rotates four times a year.

Creative direction

The identity is typography-led. A soft, high-contrast serif wordmark carries warmth; a compact sans handles information. Botanical shapes are drawn as simple cut-paper forms rather than illustrations, so they stay graphic at label size.

Colour is seasonal by design: a cream base with a rotating pair of accents (tomato and marigold for late summer, for example). Packaging uses the pair boldly in large blocks; the storefront uses them sparingly for state and emphasis.

Commerce components are editorial. A product card shows the ingredient, the weeks it is at its best and one idea for cooking it, before it shows the price.

Selected design details

Wordmark

A serif wordmark with a subtly tucked “S” ligature; always set in a single colour.

Produce box

A single-colour corrugated box with a large seasonal block and a printed insert.

Labels

A modular label with ingredient, origin, peak weeks and a cooking idea.

Seasonal product cards

Cards lead with timing and use before price.

Systems and technical exploration

The storefront is planned as an Astro or React prototype with a product catalogue, a seasonal calendar and simple recommendation logic (what is at its peak this week, what pairs with it). Content is managed through structured files so a small team can update seasons without a developer.

No payment processing is included in the concept; checkout is out of scope for the portfolio exploration.

Next-stage opportunities

  1. 01 Produce full brand guidelines including the four seasonal palettes.
  2. 02 Build a functional storefront prototype with a seasonal catalogue and recommendation logic.
  3. 03 Commission or art-direct real produce photography to replace the graphic placeholders.

Concept project. Independently initiated. Not a client commission. All names, data and content are fictional.
